This "project" played two surprise gigs in LA last October, which I unfortunately found out about a week too late. The group was comprised of singer/guitarist/piano Thom Yorke (Radiohead), bassist Flea (Chili Peppers) Nigel Godrich playing synths/beats (producer for Radiohead, Paul McCartney, and Beck) drummer Joey Waronker (Beck, and session work with Smashing Pumpkins, Elliott Smith, and REM) and brazilian percusionist Mauro Refosco.
They mainly played songs of Thom's solo album, but could have some original stuff in the future. Neither Yorke or Flea will be leaving their respective bands, but they liked the gig so much, they'll be back some time in 2010. Can't wait to see what sort of creative avenue they decide to go down with Flea's bass and Yorke's guitar/piano. The heavy and fast bass line Flea added to the first song here, is really an interesting match to the piano, and shows good things may be coming.
